I have had a lot of time to reflect this past year while traveling and trying to make sense of a world that is no longer familiar has not been an easy task. Coming back to “reality” isn’t always so easy after traveling around the globe with no real schedule or obligation besides just being and enjoying life. (Read more about my decision to take time off and travel here.)
People live their lives…everyday….sometimes without really experiencing joy. Ultimately that is what we are here for. Joy, happiness, new experiences, tears…both good and bad. If you feel like you are stuck…you are not. We are never stuck, this thought only exists within our minds. So whether you feel stuck in a bad relationship, unpleasant job, or a situation you have just outgrown, I encourage you to believe in yourself that change is possible and that true happiness and bliss are always attainable!
If you believe in yourself and work hard anything is possible. I’m sure of this because I’ve experienced it. We have all experienced it in some way shape or form anytime we have any type of success or complete a goal we have set for ourselves. Everything you have in your life now is because of a previous goal or desire you once had. Maybe it is a career, a house, a car, a relationship, past travel experiences or upcoming trips, etc. We all attract things into our lives based on our desires and our actions towards creating them into our realities.
Synchronicities, happiness, joy, overwhelming feelings of gratitude for all that is and all that is to come…THAT is what life should be about. Life is about letting go of your fears and embracing your dreams. That is when you are truly living. It is truly possible to have anything and everything you might desire, you just have to work hard towards it.
Some Life Lessons I’ve Learned Along the Way:
…and still working on/learning/practicing…. 🙂
↬Slow down and enjoy the ride
Be present. Live in the moment and don’t always try to get to wherever it is you might be going next in life. Enjoy your current situation, whatever that might be. Good is found in everything, but only if we choose to recognize it. We are often too busy speeding through life to get to the next place or experience, that we aren’t actually living and enjoying the journey. Life is about the journey, not just the destination…so slow down and enjoy each and every moment.
↬Let go of fears
I once read that nothing is born out of fear, it cannot create anything, only love can do that. Don’t ever let fear get in your way in life. Focus on love…starting with loving yourself. Eventually, you will get to a place where the love you have outweighs any fears in life and you will slowly start to notice a shift in your mindset and thinking.
↬Let go of judgments
Life is just too short to care about what other people think of you. You will always have a critic, just make sure that you aren’t your toughest one. This means treating yourself and others with nothing but love and compassion. Confidence in yourself and your path will exude out of you and nothing else will matter or get in your way once you are able to master this and truly be the most authentic version of yourself.
↬Be grateful
There is always something to be grateful for and the moment you focus your energy on this, the more abundance and joy you will feel.
↬Be Kind
Be kind to yourself and others. This might be the most important thing we can do in life. It is an elementary school skill that so many adults still need to remember. Smile more and spread more love, whatever you put out will be exactly what you experience in return.
↬Money isn’t everything
Of course, money is important, and we need it to survive and live our lives the way we want to. However, it shouldn’t be the focal point of our existence. If you follow your passions and work hard you can find success in whatever it is that you would like to accomplish in life. Don’t let money be the driving force that is stopping you from attaining that and don’t make material possessions your priority. Happiness comes from new experiences and spending time with those you love, not from money or more things.
↬Take the vacation!
Always, always take the vacation! I heard once that over 50% of Americans do not use their vacation time. Don’t be one of those people. Try new things. Meet new people. Explore new cultures. Travel is by far one of the most valuable things you can ever spend your money on and you will not regret it.
↬Be open to new experiences
When is the first time you tried something for the first time? Growth and learning come from new experiences and this leads us to feel more happiness and bliss. Try and make it a habit to get out of your comfort zone and grow a little.
Be the best version of yourself
In order to live your best life, you need to be the best you. That means creating better habits that help you feel your best and most balanced. Take time to meditate, be active, eat healthy, stay organized, put first things first, etc. It also means letting go of anything that does not serve you…bad habits, thoughts, people, places, etc.
Ultimately, just choose the road that leads to the most growth and happiness (whatever that might mean to you) and you will not be disappointed! If you aren’t sure exactly what that path is, don’t worry because you can’t really make a wrong decision when following your gut. Chances are if it is something that scares you a bit, then it is probably worth it. So just take chances and take risks to chase your dreams, live a life you love and never apologize for being you and putting yourself first!❤
What does living your best life look like to you?
